Airasia: Teleport reinforces key routes with 737-800 cargo planes and converted A320 planes
Adrian Loretz, COO of Teleport said, “We are delighted to share this expansion as we strengthen our logistics footprint in Asia. It was evident at the end of last year that the demand for freight capacity was not going to be met in the long term by passenger capacity alone. We therefore evaluated the possibility of using dedicated freighters. It’s also part of our strategy to build capacity and connectivity to offer 24-hour door-to-door delivery throughout Southeast Asia. ‘
“The type of aircraft we use is ideal for handling the current strong increase in demand for e-commerce and other commodities, and we want to grow our network with this dedicated cargo capacity. We’re here for the long haul and are ready to do more with converted freighters and planes. ‘
Since 2020, Teleport has built a freight-only network on the region’s major air freight routes to meet increasing e-commerce and overall freight demand. In May, AirAsia operated six A330s and two A320s on behalf of Teleport and plans to increase it within the year. With the rental of the cargo and the conversion of the aircraft, Teleport will be even more capable and reliable to deliver more cargo and will strengthen Teleport’s coverage across Asia.
Founded in 2018, Teleport is an airasia digital company, developing AirAsia’s logistics ambitions. Teleport’s mission is to enable everyone – from individual traders to larger corporations – to move merchandise and e-commerce anywhere in Southeast Asia and beyond. It should just work, like magic.
