(Milan, Ind.) – Baylor Trucking, a national, family-run truck transporter specializing in expedited dry vans and refrigerated service, has once again been recognized by Walmart as Carrier of the Year.

Baylor Trucking has been recognized as Carrier of the Year by Walmart four times and, in 2021, received its second consecutive Carrier of the Year award for Diversity. This category recognizes a top performing third party logistics carrier that is a woman, minority or veteran owned business.

Walmart Carrier of the Year recipients are evaluated based on key performance criteria that include track compliance, daily on-time delivery, complaint prevention, effective communication, and customer service.

Cari Baylor, president of Baylor Trucking, said doing business with Walmart is a testament to the retailer adhering to its four guiding principles for culture, diversity, equity and inclusion. These principles are objectivity, transparency, data to guide decisions and accountability.

“It’s always refreshing to know where you are at, and we are very grateful to Walmart for putting these principles into practice. They give carriers like Baylor Trucking the ability to thrive, ”said Baylor, third generation owner of the 75-year-old family business.

As the top performing Walmart carrier, Baylor Trucking expanded its relationship in 2020 by 58.5% in terms of the number of loads across Walmart’s dry, refrigerated and consolidated freight networks. Baylor Trucking has held firm to contract rates and track commitments despite an unprecedented increase in demand for the company‘s delivery services without exception during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We were able to grow our relationship with Walmart when America needed us most,” Baylor said. “Integrity is a core value of our business. We always want to do the right thing. For us, that means honoring our track and fare commitments with customers and making sure our professional drivers always know we’re there to support them.

Over the past year, Baylor Trucking has dramatically increased compensation and benefits for professional driver teams and solos. “By investing in our professional drivers, they remain invested in the success of our customers and the needs of consumers,” added Baylor.

Baylor Trucking also recognized professional drivers for moving America forward during the early months of the COVID-19 crisis. The company issued Walmart gift cards to those who worked from March to June 2020. Gift amounts ranged from $ 300 to $ 500 and were based on every mile driven by professional drivers during that time.

“In addition to using cards for their families, many of our professional drivers have offered their cards to other people in need who have been negatively affected by the pandemic,” Baylor said.

Baylor Trucking is holding Walmart Gift Card raffles daily this week for professional drivers and their operations staff to celebrate receiving the 2021 Walmart Diversity Carrier of the Year award.

“The past year has presented many challenges to the transportation industry. We thank carriers, including Baylor Trucking, for providing essential services and creative solutions when they were desperately needed, ”said Ken Braunbach, vice president of Walmart Inbound Transportation. “We are proud to recognize Baylor Trucking as Walmart Carrier of the Year for Diversity.”
