The company makes the materials needed for surgical masks, the same masks many wear throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Monadnock Non-Woven Media machines near Mount Pocono are running at normal capacity again as supplies have caught up.

The company makes the materials needed for surgical masks, the same masks many wear throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s busier than three years ago because some people are still buying into real companies, but the chaos that was two years ago is gone and the market is flooded with media,” said Keith Hayward, general manager of the company. in Coolbaugh Township.

We spoke to Hayward two years ago before the coronavirus hit our area when demand was at an all time high.

He says the business went from 150 tons a month to the usual 20-30 tons because other manufacturers started producing the same material.

“People like Chrysler, General Motors, Procter & Gamble, all the big companies just installed these machines, and we started servicing them locally, rather than shipping air freight all over the world. As you can tell imagine, there was a ramp up and where we are now, almost all of these machines have been shut down,” Hayward said.

The CDC recommends people wear N95s. Hayward says they are not yet making the hardware for these masks.

“We just bought some hardware that we’re going to use to try to set that standard next, because that’s the demand,” Hayward said. “It’s the next market if you will.”

Hayward says he hopes the machines will be operational as soon as they arrive.
