India hands over shipment of TB drugs to Zimbabwe

Harare [Zimbabwe]Jun 08 (NNA): Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, during his visit to Zimbabwe on Wednesday, handed over a consignment of 288 boxes of drugs to treat tuberculosis (TB) to the Deputy Minister of Health and John Mangwiro Family Welfare.
Muraleedharan said he is confident that these drugs will help Zimbabwe in its fight against tuberculosis.
“From the Indian people to the Zimbabwean people. Happy to hand over a consignment of 288 boxes of medicines to treat tuberculosis to Deputy Minister of Health and Family Welfare, HE John Mangwiro. Confident this will help Zimbabwe in its fight against TB,” he tweeted.
Muraleedharan met on Tuesday with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Barrister Jacob Francis Mudenda. The MoS exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
He is on an official visit to African countries — Zimbabwe and Malawi — from June 6-9.
Muraleedharan will also review the progress of development assistance projects under Lines of Credit (LoCs) and Government of India grants in the two countries. The MoS had a virtual meeting with Dr. Frederick Shava on June 28, 2021.
Ministers reviewed the full range of bilateral relations, including political cooperation, cooperation in health, energy, trade, investment and multilateral forums.
India has donated 10 ambulances, which were promised during the Vice President’s visit to Zimbabwe in 2018. A batch of 35,000 doses of Covaxin vaccine was delivered in March 2021.
India has also delivered three vehicles for Indo-Zim Technology Centers, for which the latest machines are worth approx. USD 3 million was provided under Phase II.
India shares excellent bilateral relations with Zimbabwe and Malawi in the political, economic, cultural and development aid fields, which have been particularly strengthened in recent years.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Indian leaders have maintained close contact with the leaders of the two countries and supported them in their fight against the pandemic. (ANI)
