Local trucking companies raise donations to help KY flood victims
Williamstown, West Virginia (WTAP) –
In an effort to help those affected by flooding in Kentucky, two companies are teaming up to collect and deliver supplies.
The West Virginia Trucking Association has partnered with XPO Logistics for its Helping Neighbors campaign.
XPO Logistics will deliver the donations to multiple locations in Kentucky.
West Virginia Trucking Association President Traci Nelson says she created the campaign because West Virginia is no stranger to the damage floods can cause.
Nelson said he created this campaign specifically for this cause.
“When you had a flood and you pretty much lost everything. If somebody can come in and say, you know, here’s diapers, or cleaning supplies, or little things… you know that makes you feel good. It makes you feel like you’re making a difference in their lives, even if it’s small.
They collect bottled water, cleaning products, personal hygiene items and baby supplies.
Three XPO locations will accept donations through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The three locations include two West Virginia towns, Belle, Williamstown, and Ohio City’s South Port.
If you would like to donate money, you can donate to the Kentucky Relief Fund.
Drop-off locations are: 4624 Williams Hwy, Williamstown 26187; 1100 River East Drive, Belle W. VA 25015; 96 Private Drive 339, South Point, OH 45680
