A national freight transport strike December 19, 20 and 21 will paralyze 10,000 trucks, according to the Federation of Freight Transport and the Association of Distributors Association of companies distributing food, drinks and cleaning products in the Balearic Islands.

“We support the demands that are made at the national level because we have to bear the additional costs caused by rising fuel prices, ”said Distributor President Bartomeu Servera.

Pickets will be deployed in ports in Valencia, Barcelona, ​​Dénia and Tarragona during the strike, to prevent all goods, except perishable products, from being transported to the Balearic Islands via Baleària, Trasmed and CNG.

“The announcement of the strike caused an avalanche of orders for all kinds of products and companies have brought their christmas orders forward to make sure there is no shortage, ”Servera said.

Baleària and Trasmed will carry much heavier loads over the next two weeks on trips between the mainland and Palma.
