HYDERABAD: S Ramesh, a 24-year-old who worked as a teacher in a private school in the city, died by suicide. He was found hanged in his rented room late Friday night. Although the reason for the suicide is unclear, police who found out that Ramesh had recently availed a loan of Rs 6,000 from an instant micro-loan app, are also investigating whether he took the extreme measure due to any harassment from the organizers of the loan application. It can be noted that at least 10 people across Telangana have died by suicide due to harassment from loan application organizers in 2020 and 2021.

According to the police, Ramesh, originally from Warangal, has worked in the town for more than a year. He was staying in a rented room with a friend. Friday, he was alone in the room. In the evening, the owner of their home came to their room for repairs, but found it locked from the inside. With no response, he broke down the door and found Ramesh hanging inside.

Police found no suicide note or clues as to the reason for the suicide. However, they checked his mobile phone and discovered that he had recently availed a loan of Rs 6,000 from an app. They found no clues that he was being stalked.

“We are probing this aspect and also suspect personal issues which may have forced him to take the extreme step,” Uppal Police officials said.
