MIC Cargo ground assistance signs Rickenbacker lease

US ground operator MIC Cargo has chosen Rickenbacker International Airport as the site for its first location outside of Chicago, leasing a 46,000 square foot facility adjacent to the growing air cargo hub.
With the addition of cargo terminal and export control services, MIC Cargo, a holding company of Inoa Ventures Management, becomes only Rickenbacker’s second full-service air cargo terminal service provider.
It comes as Rickenbacker’s number of flights and tonnage have continued to increase exponentially through the pandemic and with the challenges facing global ocean freight supply chains.
The building, located in the Alum Creek Logistics Center, was constructed in 1996 and features eight dock doors and a ramp. MIC is expected to begin processing cargo at the facility no later than January 2022.
Founded in 2017, MIC Cargo is an airside ground handling company providing services to scheduled passenger and freight airlines and ad hoc charters at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
MIC Cargo Managing Director Edip Pektas said: âAs we assess the best opportunities to expand the MIC Cargo brand and philosophy, we have been actively reviewing a number of cities and airports.
âFrom our perspective, Rickenbacker is where we felt it was best to open next time based on current traffic forecast, Rickenbacker’s logistics community and our desirability to offer service. to a number of our existing customers outside of Chicago. “
Joseph Nardone, President and CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, owner and operator of Rickenbacker Airport, said: Perfect environment for MIC’s success.
âThe addition of MIC will allow Rickenbacker to continue to develop our international air cargo service while continuing our goal of providing best-in-class service to air cargo customers. “
