NATCHEZ – Jordan Carriers is now recruiting for 100 new jobs at Natchez that Copiah Lincoln Community College is offering training for, Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson said.

The Natchez-based trucking company is looking for commercial licensed drivers who must be at least 23 years old and ready to drive, owner Doug and Charles Jordan said in a meeting with Gibson.

The starting salary is between $ 60,000 and $ 70,000 per year with benefits, $ 401,000 and health insurance from Blue Cross and Mississippi Blue Shield, they said.

To help fill these positions, Gibson announced that Co-Lin has brought the CDL course back to the Natchez campus. Registration closes May 24.

“Jordan Carriers is one of the top employers in the state of Mississippi and the Miss-Lou area and is one of the top trucking companies in America,” Gibson said.

Charles Jordan said the company has been around for 29 years. They primarily haul flatbed materials between San Antonio and the East Coast with a fleet of around 650 trucks on the road during a normal working day.

“Right now there is more freight than we can get,” said Charles Jordan while urging licensed and inexperienced drivers to consider applying or taking the course at Co-Lin.

Gibson has encouraged anyone over the age of 23 who needs a job and is interested in driving to consider enrolling in this training, which does not require any prior experience.

“We are very grateful that Co-Lin has agreed to offer this important class again,” Gibson said. “Let’s take advantage of it.”

Those who complete the CDL program at Co-Lin with an average of 90% or higher will receive a signing bonus of $ 5,000 when they are hired at Jordan Carriers, he said.

The course lasts one month from June 1 to 30. Classes take place Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The registration fee is $ 250 and the total cost of tuition is $ 2,960.

Registration packages can be downloaded and printed at force.colin.edu or picked up and delivered to the Redd-Watkins Vocational Center on the Natchez campus.

Those looking for more information about the class can call 601-643-8707 for more details.
