National Maritime Day: India’s maritime sector has made progress over the past 8 years, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Highlighting the importance of the maritime sector for India’s economic growth on National Maritime Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that over the past eight years, India’s maritime sector has reached new heights and helped boost trade and business.

Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “Today, on National Maritime Day, we recall our glorious maritime history and underscore the importance of the maritime sector to India’s economic growth. Over the past 8 years, our maritime sector has reached new heights and helped boost trade and commerce. Activities.”

Prime Minister Modi added, “Over the past 8 years, the Government of India has focused on port-driven development, which includes expanding port capacity and improving the efficiency of existing systems. The waterways are exploited to secure access for Indian products to new markets.”

National Maritime Day was first celebrated on April 5, 1964. Since then, every year the day has been celebrated nationwide.

The day is dedicated to celebrating the central role that the maritime industry plays in the growth and sustenance of the Indian economy.
