Russia plans to fund V0 freight rail bypass

Russia is ready to consider financing the V0 freight rail bypass around Budapest, as well as to share its experience and know-how for the project, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology said after of a videoconference between Minister of Innovation and Technology László Palkovics and Russian Minister of Transport Vitaly Saveliev, according to origo.hu.
The ministry said both sides welcomed the recent establishment of a rail freight joint venture between Hungarian, Russian and Austrian companies.
Palkovics said Hungary aims to become a logistics and distribution hub for transporting goods between Europe and Asia, noting that an upgrade of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line, which will part of a corridor to transport goods from China, has already begun.
He said an environmental permit for the planned V0 rail bypass could be obtained by next spring, and a feasibility study completed by summer 2023.
