Tesla Model Y production units spotted ready for delivery to Giga Texas

Tesla Giga Texas is eager to get going, shown by what appear to be Model Y production vehicles awaiting transport next to the factory. Model Y vehicles are all covered, apparently awaiting delivery day.
Based on photos shared by the drone operator Jeff Robert, Tesla Giga Texas has just over 100 Model Y production vehicles parked on site. Most of the cars were covered, but a few were visible. Giga Texas is working on blue and black Model Y production vehicles based on the uncovered cars.
During the latest earnings call, Elon Musk said Tesla would begin delivering Giga Texas Model Y vehicles after receiving vehicle certification. At the time, Musk noted that Tesla expected to receive final certification “fairly soon.” Tesla Giga Texas will release the Model Ys with the company‘s structural battery and long-awaited 4680 cells. A few days ago, some Model Y units left Giga Texas on car carriers.
As of this writing, Telsa’s online ordering page lists the estimated delivery date for the Model Y Performance as April 2022. While the estimated delivery date for the Model Y Long Range is August 2022. Tesla hopes begin deliveries of Giga Texas Model Y vehicles by completion. of the first quarter, according to Drew Baglino—Senior VP of Powertrain and Energy Engineering.
“We expect our first 4,680 vehicles to be delivered this quarter,” Baglino said on the fourth quarter and full year earnings call. “Our focus on airframe, pack and vehicles here is improving performance quality and cost to ensure we are ready for larger volumes this year as we move forward and next year. And the 4680 and pack tool installations here at Giga Austin are progressing well, with some areas producing [the] first parts. And the Internet has also noticed it.
