Vaccinated truckers at the Conrad truck stop vaccination clinic
Governor Greg Gianforte on Thursday visited a vaccination clinic set up off I-15 in Conrad for truckers entering and leaving the state. More than 500 truckers had been vaccinated at the clinic on Thursday.
“Together with our neighbors to the north, we are making this safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine available to truckers transporting goods in and out of Montana,” Governor Gianforte said. “Thanks to this convenient and mobile vaccination clinic, more than 500 truckers and travelers have been vaccinated to date. It’s the kind of model that our local public health partners can emulate statewide to make the vaccine easier and more convenient for Montanans.
On May 7, Governor Gianforte announced that Montana and Alberta have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide vaccines to Alberta truckers in Montana.
Montana began providing free vaccines to truckers entering and exiting the state on May 10 at the I-15 rest area in Conrad. The service is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until May 23.
Electronic signage on I-15 offers advice to truckers on where to get the vaccine.
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services works with Best Practice Medicine, a provider of clinical staff deployment, to administer the vaccines.
